1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owner.
Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot access files stored on your computer beyond the data they were given to remember. Most browsers accept cookies by default, but you can adjust your settings to refuse or delete them.
On this site, we keep cookie use to a minimum. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not share tracking data with ad networks.
2. Cookies We Use
Required for the site to function. They enable basic operations such as saving your cookie consent choice so we do not ask again. These cannot be disabled.
Examples: cookieConsent (localStorage), session state. Duration: Session or up to 12 months.
Help us understand how visitors interact with the site — which pages are visited, how long users spend on them, and where they arrive from. All data is aggregated and anonymous.
Provider: Google Analytics. Duration: Up to 26 months.
Used to understand how visitors reached this site through paid or referral channels. Kern Labs does not serve advertising on this site; these cookies would only be active if we run external campaigns.
Providers: Google Ads, Meta. Duration: Up to 90 days.
Remember choices you make on this site, such as your preferred display settings or language, so you do not have to set them each time you return.
Examples: UI preferences. Duration: Up to 12 months.
3. Manage Your Preferences
Use the toggles above to enable or disable each cookie category, then save your choices using the buttons below. Your preferences are stored in your browser's local storage.
4. Third-Party Services
Where you consent to analytics or marketing cookies, data may be processed by third-party platforms. Their own privacy policies apply to data they collect:
-
Google Analytics — aggregate usage statistics. Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
-
Meta Pixel — only active if marketing cookies are enabled and a campaign is running. Meta's Privacy Policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy
5. Cookie Duration
Exist only while your browser tab is open. Deleted automatically when you close the browser.
Remain on your device for a set period (stated in each category above) or until you delete them manually.
